Before throwing shade, these are NOT cockroaches. These are Blaptica dubia roaches.
I breed these clean, harmless roaches as the main dietary staple for my three bearded dragons and (current)51 tarantulas. In comparison to crickets, they have three times as much protein, are easier to digest, are odorless and can't climb smooth surfaces, don't jump and don't fly. Even if they did somehow get loose, these guys don't breed in anything less than 90 degrees with high humidity, so they won't infest your house.
I've had them for over a year, and have yet to experience any sort of problem or issue. They are super easy to care for, and will save you TONS.
These do need to be gut-loaded, as any other live feeder. I feed them the same greens and squashes as my beardies, and other veggie/fruit scraps that are safe. They particularly love oranges! I also supplement their diet with dry dog food, a cheaper alternative to the "dubia chow" you'll find out there.
It sometimes makes me sad to breed 'em and feed 'em, but I am giving them the best life that I can. A healthy life for our pet's food, means a healthy life for our pets.
